As a senior reflecting on his college years, I have grown a great deal, but nonetheless a great deal has remained the same. The values we hold as Sigma Chi brought me resolve in the ways I conducted myself as a son, student, and friend. The lifelong bonds we share make the dichotomy between friend and family a reductionist’s belief.
Brother, you are a part of my family. Our family. The Beta Lambda chapter holds a special place in my heart—as much as time might now be a limiting factor, I will continue to keep my brothers close by me. Few forces on this earth can break the spirit of brotherhood we have forged together as we journey ahead.
We struggle to make ends meet, to enter meaningful lifelong professions, and to rest after each day feeling fulfilled and accomplished. But when we unite as a fraternity, we accomplish greatness. For me, it is no trouble at all to help welcome you back to your family here at Duke. Years may go by, but the passion in our hearts is immovable. I look forward to seeing our family rekindle the bonds we deserve to keep.
